Robert K. Morrison, a retired supervisor at an automobile manufacturing plant, died at his daughter’s home in Ventura on Friday. He was 74.

Morrison was born Jan. 16, 1926, in Trenton, N. J. After playing football at Trenton High School, he played professionally on the East Coast.

Morrison went on to Ryder University in New Jersey, where he met his future wife, Elizabeth Banehower, at a dance. At the time, she was attending Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa. They were married Sept. 22, 1951.

They raised their family in New Jersey and he spent his free time fishing or taking their boat up the coast to New York and surrounding areas. He was a life member and past chaplain of the South Amboy Boat Club in New Jersey.

Morrison worked at the Lincoln Mercury-Ford plant in Metuchen, N. J., for 38 years before retiring in 1982. After retiring, he and his wife traveled and visited with their children and grandchildren. He also loved all kinds of sports.

He became very ill about six years ago. Last year, he and his wife moved to Ventura, where they lived with their daughter and son-in-law, Joanie and Dr. Moustapha Abou-Samra. Abou-Samra, a neurosurgeon, checked on Morrison daily and brought in help during the night in case he needed anything.

Morrison is also survived by sons Jim of Frenchtown, N. J., and Jack of South Amboy, N. J., and 10 grandchildren.

A memorial Mass is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Ventura. Burial will follow a second memorial Mass at Assumption Church in New Egypt, N. J., on June 10.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Robert K. Morrison Memorial Fund to benefit the Sisters of Mercy Infirmary, 444 E. Grandview Blvd., Erie, PA 16504.
