After completing a second term ridden with lawsuits, walkouts and controversy, Councilwoman Barbara W. Kiley said Monday that she will not run for reelection in November
“The city deserves a whole new council,†she said, adding that she and other council members are no longer able to make objective decisions. “The truth is: I’m already prejudiced. Every issue, not just [City Manager Arthur C.] Simonian, has history and baggage.â€
Simonian, now on paid administrative leave, is being sued by the city, which hopes to recover as much as $300,000 in bonuses he allegedly paid himself without authorization. Simonian has denied any wrongdoing and is suing to return to work.
Councilman Mark Schwing, who will complete his third term in November, said he is planning to run for reelection. Henry W. Wedaa is also expected to run for reelection. He was unavailable for comment.
