The Ventura Police Department will open a storefront office today at Pacific View, the revamped midtown mall.
An opening celebration is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. In addition to refreshments, events include an identification card drive for children and seniors, K-9 demonstrations, a “talking” police car and McGruff, the crime-fighting dog.
One officer, a corporal and two police services officers and volunteers will operate from the storefront. All will be on hand today to conduct programs on crime prevention for area businesses.
Officers will also be available to issue parking tickets and process applications for alarm systems.
