Hilton Resigns as Saugus Softball Coach

Ron Hilton, who guided Saugus High’s softball team to more than 350 victories in 19 seasons, has resigned as coach.
Hilton, Times Valley coach of the year in 1996 when he led the Centurions to the Division II section championship, will continue to coach the football team.
“It’s been tremendously rewarding,” said Hilton, whose team’s won eight league championships. “But I had a lot of talent on my teams and a lot of help. I was just tired and there’s other things I should be doing. Football has always been my first love.”
Saugus finished 14-12 this season.
