Villa Park’s Mike Chansawangpuvana and Mai Mangkalakiri defeated Aaron Huynh and Joanne Yeung of Alhambra to win their second consecutive Southern Section mixed doubles badminton championship at the Orange County Badminton Club in Garden Grove.
Chansawangpuvana, a sophomore, and Mangkalakiri, a junior, won, 15-3, 10-15, 15-10. Both are members of the Junior National training program.

El Camino Real won its first City Section boys’ tennis title with a 17-12 1/2 victory over Granada Hills at the Warner Center Tennis Club in Woodland Hills.
The Conquistadores’ hero was Matt Jones, who swept his sets at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-2, 6-1, 6-2.
The No. 1 doubles tandem of Shaun Flynn and Nick Kogan clinched the victory with a 7-5 win over Granada Hills’ No. 2 team of Onanya Sreepathi and Mike Edelson.
In the City Invitational final, Sherman Oaks CES defeated Poly, 16-13 1/2. Adam Isen won three of four singles sets for the victorious Knights.
