In another Division I wild-card match:

University 3, Saddleback 2--Derek Tran had 21 kills for the Trojans (10-10), who won, 15-3, 9-15, 15-5, 10-15, 15-2 and advanced to play at second-seeded Irvine. Fabian Campuzano had 15 kills for Saddleback (9-8).

In Division II wild-card matches:

Bolsa Grande 3, El Dorado 1--David Nguyen had 20 kills for host Bolsa Grande (14-3), which rallied from a 12-3 deficit in the third game before winning, 13-15, 16-14, 15-12, 18-16. Bolsa Grande advanced to play at Los Altos.

Ocean View 3, La Mirada 0--Jason Roth had eight kills for host Ocean View (10-4), which won 15-3, 15-7, 15-2 and advanced to play Torrance Bishop Montgomery.

Woodbridge 3, Canyon 0--Adam Bremner had 10 kills for host Woodbridge (10-5), which won, 15-3, 15-2, 15-0 to advance to play at Hemet West Valley.

In South Coast League baseball:

Capistrano Valley 6, No. 7 Trabuco Hills 2--Visiting Capistrano Valley (17-8, 10-4), clinched at least a tie for first place.

In the Empire League boys’ tennis finals:

Le, Kumar and Lim win--Jon Le of El Dorado won the league singles title, beating Navin Kumar of Cypress, 6-3, 6-0, at the Anaheim Tennis Center.

In the South Coast finals:

Capistrano Valley sweeps--Mike Nguyen of Capistrano Valley won the league singles title, beating Blake Hayden of Dana Hills, 6-1, 6-4. Capistrano Valley’s Chad Widtfeldt and Derrick Klunchoo won the doubles final, 6-1, 6-1.
