Santa Ana’s Wilson Gets MVP Award

C.J. Wilson of Santa Ana has been selected Orange Empire Conference’s most valuable player, the conference announced Wednesday.
Wilson, a sophomore outfielder and pitcher, batted .405 with 13 home runs, 40 runs batted in and 10 stolen bases. Wilson, a Fountain Valley High graduate, also went 7-1 with a 3.34 earned-run average and 68 strikeouts in 62 innings pitched.
Santa Ana Coach Don Sneddon was selected coach of the year after leading the Dons (32-7-1, 18-6 in conference) to the OEC title. Monte Mansfield of Riverside was the pitcher of the year.
Other first-team all-conference selections were Phil Archer (Golden West, C), Lachlan Thorburn (Riverside, C), Ty Harper (Golden West, 1B), Tony Calderon (Santa Ana, IF), Eddie Romprey (Fullerton, IF), Ryan Hubbard (Cypress, IF), Wayne Stone (Riverside, IF), David Cosato (Fullerton, OF), Kevin Snapp (Cypress, OF), Jeremy Hanson (Golden West, OF), Carlos Pasillas (Santa Ana, OF), Vinny Valiente (Saddleback, OF), Antoine Cameron (Riverside, OF), Jeremy Weinberg (Santa Ana, P), Ray Aguilar (Cypress, P), Beau Kemp (Saddleback, P), Brandon Luna (Cypress, P), Derrick Van Dusen (Riverside, P), Corey Robles (Fullerton, utility) and Miguel Mendoza (Golden West, DH).
