J.H. McGaugh Elementary School will be honored for educational excellence at a California Department of Education awards banquet at the Disneyland Hotel on Friday.
McGaugh is one of 233 elementary schools that will be recognized as California Distinguished Schools during the one-day conference for educators. The award is given to a school after its application is followed up with a successful evaluation of academic achievement, staff commitment, and parent and community involvement. Seven hundred elementary schools applied for recognition for the 1999-2000 school year.
