Authorities searched for two robbers Wednesday who held up a supermarket in Newhall and escaped after taking a customer’s car at gunpoint.
Two men entered the Albertson’s store in the 23449 block of Lyons Avenue at about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday and ordered shoppers to the ground, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
One pointed a silver revolver at the store manager and demanded money, police said. The two men grabbed about $3,000, officials said, and ordered a customer using a water vending machine to hand over car keys.
Detectives later found the stolen vehicle in a nearby parking lot.
One of the robbers was described as a white man in his early to mid-40s, with blond hair and blue eyes. He is about 6 feet tall, thinly built, and when last seen was wearing a white shirt and sunglasses.
The second robber is described as a white male in his late teens to early 20s with dark hair. He is about 5 feet 11, thinly built, and was wearing a brown baseball cap.
