Boy Scouts Close to Selling Most of Firestone Reservation

DIAMOND BAR — Boy Scouts of America officials say they’re close to selling most of the 3,300-acre Firestone Scout Reservation to a conservation group.
The organization said it would get millions of dollars by selling the land to The Wildlands Conservancy, and would keep enough acreage to build new camping facilities at the site south of Diamond Bar and east of the 57 freeway.
An announcement on the sale could come in two weeks, said Boy Scouts spokesman Joey Robinson. A letter the Boy Scouts sent to its membership late last year outlined a deal that would give the conservancy 2,350 acres for $17.6 million.
The Scouts have been looking to sell some of the land for more than a decade.
