* Governmental agencies often mandate that the market produce products for which no viable commercial market exists--GM’s EV1 electric car is one example; smart guns is another. Neither the police nor the public will buy smart guns and in a few years your newspaper will, as it just did with the EV1, write an obit for the smart gun, another idea with no legs in reality.
