Hot Dogs Distributed in 15 States Recalled

The U.S. Agriculture Department announced in Washington, D.C., that Sara Lee Corp. of Chicago is recalling 34,500 pounds of Ball Park Franks from 15 states--none of them on the West Coast--after investigators spotted listeria bacteria in the hot dogs. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall. Sara Lee said the discovery of the deadly bacteria is not in any way connected to the firm’s recall 16 months ago of meat products linked to 21 deaths. Sara Lee urged consumers to check their refrigerators for the recalled hot dogs, which were distributed in Florida, Missouri, New York, Virginia, Ohio, Connecticut, Oklahoma, Delaware, Kansas, Nebraska, Texas, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Maryland.
