Re “Pet License Fee Increases Get Preliminary OK,” March 23.
It’s the money, stupid! In its never-ending quest for more rat-hole tax money the City Council has decided to tap into the funds of responsible owners of licensed dogs. They have our names, addresses and the names and breeds of our dogs. We are their first target.
No effort will be made to rid the streets of homeless dogs. Homeless dogs are unlicensed with no owners to be found and no dollars to be paid. The responsible owners of one licensed pet not used for breeding will be a source of ready cash that can then be squandered in the usual manner.
