Padilla Wants Land Used for Ball Field

Los Angeles City Councilman Alex Padilla has introduced a motion asking the city Recreation and Parks Department to lease land at Hansen Dam for a new youth baseball field.
The land would be leased to Little League of America, which would develop the property with funds donated by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, Padilla said.
Under the terms of the lease, the city parks department would maintain the field for the first three years of the lease. Additionally, the department would be allowed to hold activities at the field when not in use by the league.
“Providing positive activities for youth, including after-school athletic programs such as Little League, is absolutely essential,” Padilla said in a statement.
Padilla introduced the motion at the City Council’s meeting Tuesday.
