Bus and Bike

It pleased me to read of the increase in train passengers in your March 22 story, “Commuters Driven to Metrolink by Rising Price of Gas.” While Metrolink trains are not an option for me, MTA buses most definitely are. And in the wake of paying $1.70 a gallon last week, I’ve started commuting to work using both the bus and my bike to successfully get me to my destination.
I’m doing it not because I can’t absorb the price gouge, but because I won’t tolerate it. For me, it’s a personal declaration of independence against OPEC and the oil companies and I’m proud of every single penny that stays out of my tank and in my bank.
