Spanish-Language Voter Campaign on MTV

MTV has premiered its first Spanish-language ad, joining efforts with the Assn. of Hispanic Advertising Agencies to increase Latino voter registration, the industry group said. MTV’s decision to run the Spanish-language public service announcement makes it the first English-language broadcaster to join AHAA’s pro bono nonpartisan voter campaign. It also brings the voter education message to millions of young Latinos--dubbed Generation N--who are drawn to the network by chart-topping Latino and mainstream artists. Developed by Irvine-based Casanova Pendrill Publicidad, the MTV spot uses humor to deliver the message that, “If you don’t speak up, someone will speak for you.” The ad premiered Wednesday during a Jennifer Lopez MTV special.
