PACOIMA — A 53-year-old pedestrian was killed Monday after being hit by two vehicles, including one that may have fled the scene, a fire official said.
The man was seen crossing mid-block on Kelowna Street, just west of the 10200 block of San Fernando Road, when he was hit by a van, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells.
The impact threw the man’s body 20 to 30 feet, after which he was struck by another vehicle that sped away, Wells said. The accident occurred about 6:30 p.m. in a residential area west of Whiteman Airport.
Los Angeles Police Department detectives and the Los Angeles County coroner’s office were investigating the accident late Monday and did not identify the victim.
