PURIM CARNIVALS: The following carnivals will be held Sunday:
* The North Valley Jewish Community Center, 16601 Rinaldi St., Granada Hills, will hold a Purim carnival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring a moon bounce, rock climbing, pony rides, a petting zoo, a bake sale, games, an arts and crafts boutique and a psychic fair. Free. Information: (818) 360-2211.
* Temple Ahavat Shalom, 18200 Rinaldi Place, Northridge, will hold a Purim carnival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring music, carnival rides, games, food, body art, laser tag and a 36-foot-tall cargo slide. Free admission. Information: (818) 360-2258.
* Valley Cities Jewish Community Center, 13164 Burbank Blvd., Sherman Oaks, will hold a Purim carnival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. featuring a live auction and a silent auction, pony rides, carnival games, food and a boutique. Free admission. Information: (818) 786-6310.

* Temple Ner Maarav, 17730 Magnolia Blvd., Encino, will hold a Purim carnival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring a moon bounce, carnival games, a petting zoo, a silent auction and rock climbing. Free admission. Information: (818) 345-7833.
* Temple Ramat Zion, 17655 Devonshire St., Northridge, will hold a Purim carnival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring face painting, pony rides, arts and crafts, a Velcro wall, carnival booths, a bungee run and a costume parade. Free admission. Information: (818) 360-1881.
* Temple Beth Hillel, 12326 Riverside Drive, Valley Village, will hold a Purim carnival featuring a chili cook-off, carnival rides, a food court, an all-day entertainment stage, a silent auction and a live auction led by actor Ian Ziering. Free admission. Information: (818) 789-4714.
* Shomrei Torah Synagogue, 7353 Valley Circle Blvd., West Hills, will hold a Purim carnival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. featuring games and rides. Free admission. Information: (818) 346-0811.

FAMILY FESTIVAL: Chabad of the Conejo will celebrate Purim with a family festival featuring a child and adult masquerade contest, carnival booths, a moon bounce, and the reading of the megillah, the story of Purim, at 7 p.m. Monday. The event is free and will take place at the new Calabasas Community Center, 27040 Malibu Hills Road. Information: (818) 991-0991.
MEGILLAH READING SERVICE: A celebration of Purim with the traditional reading of the megillah and participants wearing costumes to join in the celebration will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Beth Knesset Bamidbar, 1611 E. Ave. J, Lancaster. Free. Information: (661) 942-4415.
MESSIANIC PURIM: Adat Y’shua Messianic Jewish Congregation will hold a Purim service at 7:45 p.m. Monday and a Purim carnival at 8 p.m. Friday at Prince of Peace Episcopal Church, 5700 Rudnick Ave., Woodland Hills. Free admission to both. Information: (818) 222-0200.
QUILTING AND GENES: The Shalom Chapter of Na’Amat USA will meet and hear a presentation on genealogy in quilting at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fashion Square Sherman Oaks community room, 14006 Riverside Drive. Free. Information: (818) 345-8966.
CENTERING PRAYER: A centering prayer support group that uses a silent meditation method intended to deepen one’s relationship with God will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Spirit Retreat Center, 4316 Lanai Road, Encino. Free. Information: (818) 784-4515.
