Simi Valley Turns Tables on Moorpark

Casie Laughrey and Kolia Ponce each had two hits and drove in a run, and Simi Valley High reversed a loss to Moorpark in the Simi Valley tournament with a 3-1 victory in a Marmonte League game Thursday at Moorpark.
Jamie Astorino (3-2) struck out three and walked three in a seven-hitter for Simi Valley (5-3, 1-1 in league play), ranked No. 10 in the region by The Times.
Moorpark, ranked No. 8, scored its only run on a throwing error in the seventh. Christy Daley had two hits for the Musketeers, who stranded eight baserunners.
Burroughs 4, Louisville 0--Malia Sullivan struck out eight and walked one in a two-hitter for the Indians (5-2) in a nonleague victory at Olive Park in Burbank.
Burbank 2, Hoover 1--Kristin Carr scored on Emily Brower’s sixth-inning sacrifice fly, snapping a 1-1 tie in a Hoover tournament semifinal game at Hoover.
Jennifer Burrows of Burbank hit a home run in the fifth to tie the score. Tiffany Rhoads pitched a five-hitter for Burbank.
Saugus 8, Santa Ana Calvary Chapel 2--Elizabeth Harkins hit a three-run home run and a run-scoring single to help the Centurions win the seventh-place game of the Laguna Hills tournament at Alicia Park in Mission Viejo.
Jaclyn Holden had three hits and three RBIs for the Centurions (5-2).
Kennedy 4, Cleveland 0--Briana Mathiesen had two hits and two RBIs for the Golden Cougars (7-2) in a nonleague game at Kennedy.
Reseda 11, Taft 4--Victoria Zavala had a two-run home run in the second and a solo home run in the fourth and finished with four hits and four RBIs for the Regents (3-1) in a nonleague victory over Taft (0-4-1) at Reseda.
Diana Garcia hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning for Taft.
Van Nuys 13, Bell 3--America Medina had four hits and drove in a run and Tiffany Mester had two hits for the Wolves (3-3) in a nonleague game that was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule at Van Nuys.
Poly 15, Belmont 6--Sonia Torres had three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs for the Parrots (2-4) in a nonleague victory at Poly.
El Camino Real 1, Sylmar 0--Christina Enea singled home Jacqui Goodchild with two out in the seventh inning for the Conquistadores (6-2-1) in a nonleague game at El Camino Real.
Chatsworth 6, Monroe 3--Melissa Freeark had three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs for Chatsworth (4-5) in a nonleague game at Monroe.
