A glance at their transcripts proves they are seniors, but Al Quintana, Jeremy Gonzales, Eric Livengood and Jason Stauffer seemingly have been playing baseball at Village Christian for 10 years.
All are four-year varsity members.
Gonzales has been a starting pitcher since his freshman season. Quintana, a shortstop, has made an impact on offense since his sophomore season.
Last year, Quintana led the Crusaders with a .444 batting average and 12 doubles.
“We’ve got maturity,” Coach Brian Gibson said.
Is it enough to win the Alpha League title?
Paraclete and L.A. Baptist are traditionally strong contenders and this season is no different.
“If we can hang in there and not let our heads get out of whack, it’s going to be a dogfight,” Gibson said.
So far, so good. The Crusaders are 3-0 in nonleague games.
