The City Council agreed to recommend developing a skateboard park on two Stanton municipal tennis courts leased from the Savanna School District.
The council is considering immediately developing one tennis court into a skateboard facility by bringing in a prefabricated ramp.
The second court would be used for constructing a concrete skateboard park.
Although businesspeople, skateboarders and council members all expressed their enthusiasm for the idea, City Manager Terry Matz warned that the city does not yet have permission from the Savanna School District to build the skateboard park.
