Funeral services for Lloyd E. Boland Jr., husband of former Assemblywoman Paula Boland, will be Monday.
Boland died Wednesday of cancer at Granada Hills Community Hospital. He was 70.
A native of Long Island, N.Y., Boland came to California when he was 20. He was in management at Texaco for 20 years, a credit manager for Olga Co. and most recently a marketing and communications assistant in the California Housing Finance Authority’s Culver City office.
When his wife was elected to the Assembly in 1990, they owned a San Fernando Valley real estate office.
Boland was “fiercely loyal to his wife, to his family and his country. He fought for all three valiantly and unfailingly throughout his exemplary life,” Assemblyman Tom McClintock (R-Northridge) said.
In addition to his wife of 23 years, Boland is survived by his son, Lloyd E. Boland III of Simi Valley; stepdaughter, Maryssa D’Angelo of North Hills; and three grandchildren.
Visitation is planned Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. at Bastian & Perrott Mortuary, 18728 Parthenia St., Northridge. A funeral Mass will be said at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Eudes Catholic Church, 9901 Mason Ave., Chatsworth, with burial to follow at San Fernando Mission Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at Granada Hills Community Hospital, where he had served on the hospital’s foundation.
