Inventories at U.S. wholesalers grew 0.7% in January, nearly double the 0.4% gain economists expected, as sales by wholesalers rose 0.8%, the Commerce Department said. Separately, the number of Americans filing for state jobless benefits rose by 5,000 last week, as expected, to a seasonally adjusted 280,000.
