What’s happening this spring:
* The Spoleto Festival USA is scheduled for May 26 through June 11 in Charleston, S.C. Performances of dance, music and theater take place at 10 venues in downtown Charleston. Highlights include a new staging of Verdi’s “Luisa Miller.” (877) 386-7765 or https://www.spoletousa.org.
* The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington will present “Island: Arts for Ireland,” a festival of music, theater, film, art and literature, May 13 through 28, with some exhibitions remaining longer. (800) 444-1324 or https://kennedy-center.org/irishfestival.
* The Northwest Folklife Festival, May 26 through 29, brings 1,000 musicians and performers from 100 nations to Seattle Center, at Broad Street and 5th Avenue in Seattle. https://www.nwfolklife.org.
* The Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Ill., in suburban Chicago, begins June 8. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra has an eight-week residency, and the New York Philharmonic also performs. Jazz, pop and dance performances continue through Sept. 4. (847) 266-5100 or https://www.ravinia.org.
