LONG BEACH — Officers found a decomposed body in a refrigerator after a 50-year-old man called police and announced that he had killed his girlfriend, authorities said Wednesday.
“The body was so badly decomposed that we could not tell the age, gender or cause of death,” said Sgt. Steve Fillipini.
Edwin Douglas Marquis, 50, of Long Beach called police at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday and told them: “I killed my girlfriend,” police said. He waited outside his house and flagged down patrol officers when they arrived.
Homicide detectives searched the house in the 1900 block of West 29th Street and found the body in an unplugged refrigerator.
Marquis, who is unemployed, was booked on suspicion of murder and is being held on $1 million bail.
