The city is toughening up on skaters and doubling fines to halt vandalism and increase safety regulations in the city’s 13 parks.
The City Council quickly approved two ordinances this week to add numerous regulations to the municipal codes to curb destructive behavior seen by deputies and city staff.
One prohibits the popular act among skaters called “grinding,” which includes sliding against surfaces with skates or boards, outside the skateboard park.
The other adds rules to the new skateboard park, which opened last month on Paseo de Valenica, prohibiting scooter-type devices and such hazardous activities as bringing outside obstacles to the park to build ramps or other stunt mobiles. Information: (949) 707-2600.
