Council members expressed no surprise at the results of the 57 Freeway Corridor Economic Study, which paints a grim economic picture of the city, calls for some business relocation and urges a more aggressive promotion of Old Town. The preliminary results of the study touched on the need to revitalize and redevelop the south side of the city if Placentians want to attract new businesses and increase the city’s sales tax revenue.

The study, a $40,300 investment for the city, is considered by council members a first step in the redevelopment plan for the south side.
