MISSION VIEJO
A high school student who allegedly joked about planning to bring a gun to campus and shooting his classmates has been barred from summer school by the Saddleback Valley Unified School District.
The student, who attended summer school at Trabuco Hills High School in Mission Viejo, was suspended last week and could face expulsion. He was not identified because he is a minor.
No criminal charges have been filed, officials said.
Supt. Peter A. Hartman said the incident occurred July 18, when the boy apparently told a group of students: “I’m going to bring a gun to school and shoot you all.”
A student who overheard the alleged remark told district officials, who contacted the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and investigated the claim, Hartman said.
Investigators interviewed several students but concluded that the boy did not have access to a gun. He was not arrested.
