Man Shot in Torso After Argument
NORTH HOLLYWOOD — A young man was shot several times in the torso Tuesday along a busy industrial stretch of Laurel Canyon Boulevard, police said.
The gunman and the victim, who appeared to know each other, got into an argument that led to the shooting, said Det. Martin Pinner of the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Division.
The attack occurred at 2:50 p.m., south of Sherman Way in an area dotted with auto repair shops and liquor stores. Witnesses saw the suspect and a few other young men flee the scene in two cars, police said.
“It’s very upsetting,” said Goukas Pogosyan, a family friend of the victim, whom he described as a 26-year-old North Hollywood man who runs a shop with his father.
The victim was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where a nursing supervisor declined to give his condition.
