Driver Killed in Lake Forest
A 57-year-old Mission Viejo woman was killed Friday when she drove through a red light and into the path of oncoming traffic, police said.
Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Larry Abbott said the 7:19 p.m. accident happened at Portola Parkway and the Foothill toll road in Lake Forest.
Witnesses said the woman changed lanes several times as she drove north on Portola, then drove her Toyota Camry through a red light at the entrance to the toll road, Abbott said. The vehicle was struck on the passenger’s side by a Cadillac southbound on Portola, he said.
The 56-year-old driver of the Cadillac suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills. The identities of the drivers were withheld pending notification of their families, Abbott said.
