Finland’s Nokia and Britain’s Cable & Wireless said they were joining forces to create a global mobile Internet platform for delivering wireless applications. The two companies said they will be targeting network operators, service providers and corporate customers. Nokia Networks, the infrastructure arm of the world’s top cellular phone maker, will provide a services platform, applications and systems integration that mesh with Cable & Wireless’ Internet services, the companies said. The platform will be managed by Cable & Wireless. No launch timetable or financial details were given. Cable & Wireless has an annual revenue $14 billion with customers in 70 countries.
