Karvasek Wins Irwindale Feature
T.K. Karvasek of North Hills passed Jeff Green of Long Beach on lap 38 to win a 40-lap NASCAR Super Stock race in front of a sellout crowd of 6,500 at Irwindale Speedway on Saturday night.
Pole-sitter Green led the first 10 laps but Karvasek passed Green on lap 11. Karvasek was in control until lap 29, when his car and Green’s came upon a pack of about five cars and Green took advantage.
Green dove on the apron in Turn 1, driving Karvasek up the track and into the traffic. Green took the lead in the backstretch when Karvasek’s right front fender got hooked with Greg Jacob’s left rear bumper.
James Weston of Goleta won the 50-lap NASCAR Late Model race and Rip Michels of Mission Hills took the 30-lap NASCAR Grand American Modifieds race. Tom Landreth of Alta Loma won the 35-lap Legends Cars series race.
