HIGH SCHOOL NOTEBOOK
Grant is unbeaten in Sunset Six League play, but the Lancers aren’t making life easy for Coach Howie Levine.
The Lancers defeated Verdugo Hills, Canoga Park and Hollywood by a total of six points in their first three league games.
The close calls might produce gray hairs on some coaches, but Levine hasn’t found any.
“I don’t look at myself in the mirror anymore,†Levine said. “Dorian Gray is not staring back.â€
Playing against last-place Poly on Friday, the Lancers might have expected an easier contest. But. . .
“It wasn’t all that easy,†said Levine, whose Lancers trailed, 31-27, at halftime before rallying for a 63-52 victory. “We played a very good second half.â€
The Lancers outscored Poly, 36-21, in the second half for a 63-52 victory.
