Hernandez’s Goal Lifts Monroe

Nancy Hernandez scored on a free kick in the 25th minute and Monroe High defeated Kennedy, 1-0, Friday in a Valley Mission League girls’ soccer game at Monroe.
Maggie Andrade had four saves for Monroe (7-2-3, 2-0 in league play), which has two consecutive shutouts in league play.
Kennedy is 5-2-2, 1-1 in league play.
Harvard-Westlake 1, Notre Dame 0--Kim LaVere scored in the second half in a Mission League game at Harvard-Westlake.
Sara Deckers has four shutouts in league and nine overall for Harvard-Westlake (12-2-3, 3-0-1), which is ranked No. 2 in the region by The Times.
Chaminade 1, Flintridge Sacred Heart 0--Kim Taylor scored in the first half and the Eagles (13-4-3, 2-0-2) recorded their 11th shutout of the season in a Mission League game at fifth-ranked Chaminade.
Hart 3, Canyon 1--Katie Werthlin scored two goals for visiting Hart in a Foothill League game.
Ali Pavoni assisted on all goals for Hart (7-4, 4-0), which is ranked No. 6.
Valencia 1, Burroughs 0--Ashlee Emerson scored off of Devin McLean’s throw-in in the 20th minute for visiting Valencia (12-3-2, 1-1-1) in a Foothill League game.
Chatsworth 13, Cleveland 0--Jenna Fodor had four goals and Katie Klain had four assists for the Chancellors (6-3-0, 2-0-0) in a West Valley League game at Chatsworth.
Fodor scored twice each half, and Leila Pate and Lindsey Redlin each added three goals for Chatsworth, which is ranked No. 9.
El Camino Real 7, Birmingham 0--Maytal Shvartz scored three goals and the Conquistadores (3-1-1, 2-0) won a West Valley League game at Birmingham.
Westlake 3, Royal 0--Sarah Silver-Hill scored two goals and host Westlake (11-1-2, 4-0) shut out a Marmonte League opponent for the fourth time.
BOYS’ SOCCER
Santa Paula 4, Nordhoff 0--Severiano Lira scored the first goal of the game during a Frontier League game for Santa Paula (11-5-2, 2-1).
Reseda 1, San Fernando 0--Jesse Diaz scored on a cross from Luis Martinez in the 79th minute in a Valley Mission League game at San Fernando.
