White to Step Down as Girls’ Basketball Coach at Edison

After 261 victories, Dave White said he is quitting as girls’ basketball coach at Edison High after this season.
White said he wants to devote more time to his family. He will continue as the Chargers’ football coach.
“Football takes up enough time,” White said.
White said the decision was not difficult, and he has been grooming assistant Geoff Bell to take over the program. “Basically, we’ve been co-head coaches this year,” White said.
White has coached Edison twice covering 13 seasons. He took a five-year hiatus, rejoining the program for the 1994-95 season. His career record (261-92) at one school gives him the fourth-most victories among the county’s active girls’ basketball coaches.
