Gov. Gray Davis’ four nominees to the University of California Board of Regents cleared their only major hurdle Wednesday, making way for state Senate confirmation of their 12-year appointments.
The Senate Rules Committee on Wednesday unanimously approved the nominations of Orange County business executive Judith Hopkinson, Modesto Junior College dean Odessa P. Johnson, Paramount Pictures chief Sherry Lansing and San Diego Padres owner John Moores.
The full Senate is expected to give formal approval by the end of the month.
The 26-member Board of Regents sets policy for a university with an $11-billion budget and 170,000 students on nine campuses.
