Investigators Seek Clues in Slaying

Authorities are seeking information about the slaying of a Lancaster man last weekend.
Timothy Lee Navarro, 24, was found dead of multiple gunshots wounds just after midnight Sunday in his condominium at 2040 W. Ave. J-13 after neighbors called 911, said Sgt. Ray Rodriguez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s Homicide Bureau.
Navarro, who lived alone, was found in the kitchen, Rodriguez said. Because there was a shotgun blast to another wall, investigators believe Navarro was trying to flee his attackers.
“Some neighbors reported seeing three males entering a dark car shortly after the shooting,” Rodriguez said.
Navarro had recently purchased a gun because of Y2K concerns, his friends told authorities. That gun is missing from the victim’s home and may have been used in the shooting.
“We don’t think it was gang-related. We’re focusing this investigation on people who know him or have had contact with him in the past,” Rodriguez said.
“It’s going to be difficult to solve without the cooperation of the public,” he added.
