They’re McSurly About Stick Hit

Miracle on Ice: the greatest day in USA hockey.
McMoron on Ice: the saddest day in NHL history.

I just saw the footage of hockey goon Marty McSorley taking a hack with the blade end of his stick at an opposing player, reducing that player to a twitching mess on the ice. Now the question is, why wasn’t McSorley immediately arrested for a felony such as assault with a deadly weapon? If I had done that, I would be looking at a long stretch in a correctional institution. Why is McSorley allowed to get away with this?
If John Rocker can be banned for two months for merely uttering some offensive language, then this incident requires much sterner penalties.

I couldn’t agree more with Helene Elliott’s assessment of Marty McSorley’s ugly, deliberate attempt to injure Donald Brashear, and the detrimental effect it will have on hockey as a whole. The game is already misunderstood by the public at-large. With incidents such as this, it’s no wonder I get eyeball rolling from my co-workers whenever I talk passionately about the speed, beauty, and rugged physical nature of the sport; they simply point to this type of mayhem and equate it to the WWF.

Has anyone considered the possibility that McSorley was actually trying to slash Brashear in the arm, but inadvertently hit him in the head because he was using an illegally curved stick?
