Birmingham, Chatsworth No. 1

The Birmingham boys and Chatsworth girls were seeded No. 1 in the City Section soccer playoffs.
The seedings were determined by committee Tuesday night at Hamilton High.
In the boys’ draw, West Valley League champion Birmingham hosts No. 32-seeded Fairfax in a first-round game Friday.
Grant, Sunset Six League boys’ champion, was seeded No. 8 and Reseda, Valley Mission League boys’ champion, was seeded No. 9.
Kennedy was seeded No. 10, with defending city champion El Camino Real at No. 11, Monroe at No. 17, Canoga Park at No. 18, Granada Hills at No. 23, Chatsworth at No. 26, Cleveland at No. 27, San Fernando at No. 28, Sylmar at No. 29 and North Hollywood at No. 31.
In the girls’ 16-team City Championship bracket, West Valley League champion Chatsworth was seeded first and will host No. 16 Jefferson next Tuesday.
El Camino Real, which finished second to Chatsworth in league play, was seeded third and hosts No. 14 Narbonne.
Valley Mission League champion Kennedy was seeded No. 5, Sunset Six League champion Grant was seeded No. 6, Cleveland No. 7, Granada Hills No. 8 and Monroe No. 11.
Reseda, which finished third in the Valley Mission League, was seeded No. 6 in the City Invitational, Canoga Park is No. 7, Verdugo Hills is No. 9, San Fernando is No. 12, and Poly is No. 16.
