* Small wineries in California and Virginia filed suit against the New York State Liquor Authority in an effort to topple a law that blocks wine sales over the Internet. The suit was filed in U.S. District Court in New York by the Institute for Justice, a Washington advocacy group for free trade.
* Hilton Hotels Corp. said its fourth-quarter profit declined 33% to $40.6 million, or 11 cents a share, dragged down by its December acquisition of Promus Hotel Corp. The results were reported as if Hilton owned Promus in 1998 and exclude one-time items. Revenue grew 7.1% to $816 million.
