To celebrate its 40th birthday, city leaders are holding a yearlong party at a cost of $6,000. The events include a cake-cutting ceremony at the city museum March 1, a hunt for 40 special eggs in April, and displays with historical information at the 10K/5K run in February. A fireworks show takes place in July, a Halloween carnival in October, a holiday bazaar in November and holiday dinner in December. Although it was settled at least 100 years ago, the city was formally incorporated March 1, 1960.
