Magic Loses to Suns in Hardaway’s Return

The Magic’s trade came after a 117-113 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Monday night at Orlando, Fla.

The game marked the return of Penny Hardaway, booed virtually every time he touched the ball. He missed nine of his last 11 shots for the Suns but he made 11 of 14 free throws and finished with 21 points.

Miami 104, Detroit 82--With their 11-week stay atop the Atlantic Division at stake, the Heat responded as Jamal Mashburn had 23 points, eight rebounds and six assists at Miami. The Heat, which shot 56%, has won only 12 of its past 24 games.

Detroit’s Grant Hill sat out because of a bruised hip that has forced him to miss three games.

Minnesota 105, Sacramento 90--Bobby Jackson, playing in place of injured Terrell Brandon, had 17 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists for his first career triple-double as the Timberwolves beat the Kings at Minneapolis.

Denver 83, Philadelphia 80--Nick Van Exel and George McCloud made key baskets in the final 1:21 as the Nuggets won at Denver.

Milwaukee 92, Vancouver 87--Glenn Robinson scored 11 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter as the Bucks won consecutive road games for the first time in more than a month.
