December Home Sales Decrease in West County
Single-family homes sold in west Ventura County in December registered an 11% drop from the same period a year earlier, according to the Ventura County Coastal Assn. of Realtors.
There were 226 single-family residences sold in the last month of 1999, compared with 254 sold in December 1998.
Condominium sales, however, jumped 49% over the comparable period in 1998. There were 106 condominiums sold in December 1999, compared with 71 a year earlier.
The median price of single-family homes was $227,000, 11% higher than the $205,000 reported during the same month in 1998. The median sales price of condominiums also rose from $125,000 in 1998 to $148,000 in December 1999, an 18% increase.
The median price is the point at which half the houses sold for more and half sold for less.
The figures represent homes sold in Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo, Santa Paula, Port Hueneme, Fillmore and parts of Ojai.
