Transient Found Fatally Stabbed Is Identified
A transient who was found fatally stabbed in an Oxnard lemon orchard Sunday night was identified as Ted Jason Finley.
Finley, 48, had apparently been living in the orchard in an unincorporated area near Victoria Avenue and Gonzales Road with another transient, Dean Bosworth, 33, who was arrested on suspicion of murder after directing authorities to Finley’s body.
Bosworth called 911 from a pay phone at a nearby berry stand about 5:45 p.m. Sunday to report the stabbing, which authorities said occurred during a fight between the two men.
Officials with the Ventura County coroner’s office said Finley had died of a knife wound to the chest. An investigation, including the cause of the fight, is continuing, said Sheriff’s Department spokesman Eric Nishimoto.
