* Compaq Computer Corp. (CPQ; $27.44, down 6 cents) was raised to “buy†from “market perform†by Chase H&Q.;
* Riverside-based Fleetwood Enterprises (FLE; $16.31, up 19 cents) was raised to “strong buy†from “buy†by Gilford Securities, with a target of $32.
* Los Angeles-based Guess Inc. (GES; $23.44, down 6 cents) was rated new “sell†by Gilmour & Associates.
* Los Angeles-based Tarrant Apparel Group (TAGS; $6.25, down 13 cents) was downgraded to long-term “market perform†from long-term “outperform†by Gruntal & Co.
* 3Com Corp. (COMS; $50.75, up $4.19) was raised to “buy†from “neutral†by SG Cowen, with a $60 target.
