One of Orange County’s highest-ranking prosecutors was appointed by Gov. Gray Davis on Thursday to serve as a Superior Court judge.
Assistant Dist. Atty. Richard M. King, will succeed Judge Eileen C. Moore, who was elevated to the state Court of Appeal in Santa Ana earlier this month.
King, 53, of Lake Forest, headed the District Attorney’s homicide unit for 10 years and handled more than 30 murder trials, including the longest criminal trial in county history.
Last year, he was promoted to assistant district attorney and became head of the sexual assault unit.
