Former Mayor Seeks DNC Chairmanship

Former Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson has announced plans to challenge fund-raiser Terence McAuliffe for the chairmanship of the Democratic National Committee. The bid by Jackson, who was the first black mayor of Atlanta, is backed by many black DNC members and others who fear that McAuliffe’s ascension would leave President Clinton, a close friend, with too much influence over the party.
