VICTORVILLE — A teenager who took a friend’s SUV without permission crashed into a woman’s home, killing her as she slept in her bedroom, San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies said Wednesday.
Donna Morgan, 46, suffered massive head injuries when the vehicle crashed through her bedroom wall Tuesday night. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 16-year-old driver was in Victorville visiting a friend.
The boy was speeding in the 1980 Chevrolet Suburban on the dirt shoulder of Sycamore Street when he lost control and struck the back of the house, Sgt. Greg Garland said.
He tried to run from the crash, but Morgan’s neighbors held him until deputies arrived.
The teenager, facing a possible charge of manslaughter, was being held at San Bernardino County Juvenile Hall.
