Sunny Hills Wins Glenn Tournament

Megan Broschak scored in the 68th minute to break a tie and Simi Phull scored her second goal of the game eight minutes later as Sunny Hills defeated Chino Don Lugo, 3-1, Monday in the championship game of the Norwalk Glenn girls’ soccer tournament.

Broschak scored on a breakaway after taking a pass from Renee Garand that cleared the Don Lugo defense.

Phull gave the Lancers (8-0), who are ranked ninth in the county, a 1-0 lead in the first half when she intercepted a defensive clear attempt by Don Lugo (5-2-2) and scored from 15 yards.

Jamie Seer scored the lone goal for the Conquistadores in the 35th minute.

In the Ocean View tournament:

Mater Dei 4, Trabuco Hills 0--Natalie Macias, Katy Dowling, Kali Felts and Jessica Gatica had goals for Mater Dei (5-4-1) in the semifinal game. Goalies Jessica Herrera and Jena Chaidez combined to make five saves for the Monarchs.

In nonleague boys’ soccer:

No. 7 Esperanza 1, Servite 0--Matt McNally scored unassisted in the 22nd minute to win it for visiting Esperanza (9-1-1). Goalie Danny Jepson had 12 saves to get the shutout for the Aztecs.

Aliso Niguel 5, Mission Viejo 2--Nick Spangenberg’s second goal of the game broke a 2-2 tie in the 56th minute for visiting Aliso Niguel (4-1-2). Kevin Murray also scored two goals for the Wolverines, who also got a goal and three assists from Brockton Schermerhorn.

Estancia 3, Laguna Hills 0--Javier Millan scored first-half goals five minutes apart for Estancia (3-2-2), which led, 3-0, at halftime.

Nikolai Doudtchenko scored the other goal for the Eagles, and Giovanni Gonzalez made four saves in his second shutout of the year.

Marina 1, Canyon 0--Anthony Ordonez scored with three minutes left off a cross from Kyle Loftis to win it for host Marina (7-1-2). Goalie Mike Oseguera made three saves and recorded his fourth shutout of the season.

In nonleague water polo:

No. 10 San Clemente 6, Edison 4--The Tritons’ Christina Kuno had five goals, including two in the decisive fourth quarter when San Clemente (10-1) outscored Edison, 3-1.

Ashley Bookspan had three goals for the Chargers (4-3).
