Traffic Information Radio Station to Debut Next Year

A traffic information and emergency radio station will be available next year for Conejo Valley residents traveling to Los Angeles on Pacific Coast Highway or the Ventura, San Diego and Santa Monica freeways, a Caltrans official said Wednesday.

If there is an accident that will create more than a half-hour delay, Caltrans personnel will relay the problem, the time estimated to clear it up and alternative routes, said Sameer Haddadeen, Caltrans’ senior transportation engineer.

Signs posted along the highways will tell motorists to listen to the radio station. Disaster information will also be available, he said.

“The highway radio will only be activated when we are broadcasting traffic information,†Haddadeen said. “If there are no incidents, there will be nothing on the radio.â€

A radio frequency has not yet been set.
